Environmental, social and governance (ESG) investing has been *the* hot topic in the financial industry for a few years now. Critics argue that the trend is merely a publicity stunt, or that ESG investing inherently contradicts money managers' legal fiduciary duty to make the most money they can for their customers. In part one of our two-part series on the topic, we talk to a former C-suite sustainable investing officer at BlackRock on why he thinks ESG, money and morals have a hard time getting along.
